Ali Ocakbaşı is one of Amsterdam's most acclaimed Turkish restaurants and brings the traditions of Anatolian cuisine to the city's canal belt. The restaurant is part of a concept that originated in Istanbul, where the original Ali Ocakbaşı restaurants became famous for their authentic kebabs and warm Turkish hospitality. In 2015, the first European location opened in Amsterdam. The name Ocakbaşı literally means by the fireplace and refers to the centuries-old Turkish tradition of gathering around an open charcoal grill. Guests are encouraged to share hot and cold mezze, freshly baked balloon bread and perfectly grilled meats while enjoying Turkish wines, rakı and cocktails. Located on a beautiful corner of the Herengracht near Rembrandtplein, the restaurant combines elegant interiors with views over the canal.
