About

Moco Museum

Toscanini is a cozy Italian restaurant known for its authentic pasta dishes and warm atmosphere. Inspired by traditional Tuscan cooking, the menu features handmade pasta, seasonal ingredients, and carefully selected wines. Guests can enjoy classic favorites such as carbonara, tagliatelle al ragù, and fresh seafood specials. The intimate setting makes it ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions. Friendly service and consistently high-quality food have made Toscanini a local favorite in Almere.

Moco Museum Amsterdam presents modern, contemporary, street and digital art in an accessible and visually engaging way. The independent museum opened in 2016 and occupies Villa Alsberg, an elegant historic townhouse overlooking Museumplein.

The permanent Banksy: Laugh Now exhibition is one of its greatest attractions. It presents the anonymous street artist’s humorous, rebellious and politically charged work alongside modern and contemporary icons such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and KAWS.

Downstairs, the experience becomes more digital and immersive. Colourful installations by Studio Irma surround visitors with light, reflections and movement, creating some of the museum’s most memorable and photogenic rooms. Temporary exhibitions introduce additional artists and regularly give visitors a reason to return.

Moco is considerably smaller and less traditional than the Rijksmuseum or Stedelijk Museum. Most visitors spend around one hour inside, making it ideal for people who want to see recognisable modern art without committing an entire afternoon. Its playful presentation also appeals to families, teenagers and visitors who do not normally consider themselves art lovers.

Visit early in the morning or during one of the final time slots, when tickets are often cheaper and the relatively small rooms are less crowded. Bring your own headphones to use the complimentary audio guide.

Accessibility:
Villa Alsberg has numerous stairs and no lift, making the museum inaccessible to wheelchairs and strollers
