About

Mulligans Irish Music Bar

Toscanini is a cozy Italian restaurant known for its authentic pasta dishes and warm atmosphere. Inspired by traditional Tuscan cooking, the menu features handmade pasta, seasonal ingredients, and carefully selected wines. Guests can enjoy classic favorites such as carbonara, tagliatelle al ragù, and fresh seafood specials. The intimate setting makes it ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions. Friendly service and consistently high-quality food have made Toscanini a local favorite in Almere.

Mulligans Irish Music Bar is one of Amsterdam’s most authentic and characterful pubs. Founded in 1988 and known as the oldest Irish pub in the Netherlands, it overlooks the Amstel just behind Rembrandtplein. Unlike the themed Irish pub chains found in many cities, Mulligans feels like a genuine neighbourhood meeting place with a strong connection to Ireland and its musical traditions.

Live music is the soul of the pub. Its famously tiny stage has welcomed musicians from Ireland, Scotland, the United Kingdom and beyond. Traditional Irish music remains central, but performances can also include folk, bluegrass, country, Americana, pop and acoustic music.

The traditional Sunday Session has taken place since Mulligans first opened, while Wednesday brings a more informal all-style session. Additional concerts and performances appear throughout the week, so no two evenings are exactly the same. Musicians are often encouraged to join in, giving the pub a spontaneous and inclusive atmosphere.

Behind the bar you will find Guinness, Kilkenny, Magners and several Belgian beers on tap, alongside bottled beers and an extensive collection of Irish whiskeys. Mulligans also shows Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, rugby and other major sporting events on four televisions.

During warmer weather, visitors can escape the busy interior in the small Oscar Wilde Courtyard beside the building. It is a relaxed place for a quiet drink while still remaining close to the energy of Rembrandtplein.

Visit on Sunday for the traditional Irish session or on Wednesday for the more varied all-style session. Check the event calendar before visiting and arrive early if a popular band is performing, as the intimate bar can fill up quickly.
