About
Noordermarkt
Noordermarkt is one of Amsterdam's most beloved and picturesque markets. Located in the heart of the Jordaan and dominated by the beautiful 17th-century Noorderkerk, the square has hosted markets for more than 400 years. Every Saturday, visitors can explore the famous organic farmers market alongside stalls selling antiques, vintage treasures and handmade products. On Mondays, the market transforms into a lively flea and textile market extending into the nearby Westerstraat. The Noordermarkt also played an important role during the Second World War. In February 1941, the first public meetings leading to the February Strike against the persecution of Jews took place here. Today, the market remains one of Amsterdam's most atmospheric places, loved by locals and visitors alike.
