Noordermarkt
About
Noordermarkt
Noordermarkt is one of Amsterdam’s most atmospheric markets, set on a charming square in the heart of the Jordaan. A market has been held here since the 17th century, and it remains a favourite place for browsing, tasting and experiencing everyday neighbourhood life.
Saturday is the best day for food lovers. The organic farmers’ market fills the square with fresh bread, artisan cheese, seasonal vegetables, mushrooms, herbs, honey, fish and flowers. Alongside it, traders sell antiques, jewellery, prints, vintage clothing, ceramics and other unusual finds.
On Monday morning, the focus shifts towards second-hand clothing, antiques, books and curiosities. The market also connects naturally with the traditional textile market on nearby Westerstraat. After exploring the stalls, find a seat at one of the surrounding cafés and enjoy the relaxed Jordaan atmosphere.
