Secret Garden

Secret Garden is one of Amsterdam’s most visually spectacular restaurants. Hidden along the lively Reguliersdwarsstraat, it combines tropical plants, contemporary art, dramatic lighting and richly decorated dining rooms to create the feeling of entering an exotic private garden.

The kitchen specialises in Nikkei cuisine, combining precise Japanese techniques with the citrus, chilli and bold flavours of Peru. The shared-dining menu moves from ceviche, sashimi and open-faced handrolls to tempura, anticuchos and substantial dishes from the robata grill.

Seafood plays a major role, with yellowtail, bluefin tuna, seabass ceviche, black cod, lobster and octopus appearing alongside Japanese Wagyu, beef tenderloin, duck and several creative vegetarian plates.

Secret Garden becomes increasingly energetic as the evening progresses. Resident DJs, an extensive cocktail menu and separate restaurant, lounge and drinking spaces give it the atmosphere of a sophisticated nightlife destination rather than a conventional restaurant.
