Café Slijterij Oosterling is one of Amsterdam's most remarkable brown cafés and a true institution in the city. Housed in a national monument dating back to around 1735, the building originally served as a warehouse and trading post for the Dutch East India Company. Since 1877, the premises have been associated with the Oosterling family and their distilling tradition. What makes Oosterling truly unique is that it remains Amsterdam's last traditional combination of a brown café and a licensed liquor store. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and drinks while also purchasing spirits to take home. The historic interior, enormous barrels, low bar and absence of music create an atmosphere that feels unchanged by time.
