Spaghetteria (Daniël Stalpertstraat)
About
Spaghetteria (Daniël Stalpertstraat)
Spaghetteria is one of Amsterdam’s most reliable options for an affordable Italian meal. With six locations spread across the city, the concept combines the quality of freshly produced pasta with the speed, simplicity and sociable atmosphere of a neighbourhood pasta bar.
All pasta is produced in Spaghetteria’s own Amsterdam laboratorio, inspired by the artisanal pasta workshops traditionally found throughout Italy. Two varieties of organic flour from Tuscany and Umbria are combined with fresh free-range eggs. Different pasta shapes are then matched with sauces and recipes originating from various Italian regions.
The compact menu avoids the overwhelming selection found at many Italian restaurants. Instead, Spaghetteria concentrates on a small collection of pasta dishes, with several choices changing daily. These usually include vegetarian ravioli, pasta with fish and pappardelle with a slow-cooked meat ragù, alongside several familiar house favourites.
The cooking is straightforward and generous rather than elaborate. Sauces are designed to complement the individual pasta shapes, while seasonal ingredients keep the rotating menu interesting for regular guests. With pasta dishes currently costing between approximately €14.50 and €21.50, it is possible to enjoy a proper restaurant dinner without spending the amount required at Amsterdam’s more refined Italian restaurants.
