The Pancake Bakery
The Pancake Bakery is one of Amsterdam's most iconic family restaurants and is widely regarded as the city's oldest pancake restaurant. Located on the Prinsengracht near the Anne Frank House, the restaurant occupies a beautifully preserved seventeenth-century warehouse that once belonged to the Dutch East India Company. The atmospheric building, with its wooden beams and canal views, creates one of the most charming dining settings in Amsterdam. The restaurant opened its doors in 1973 and was transformed into the internationally famous pancake house visitors know today by its current owner in 1980. Besides traditional Dutch pancakes with syrup and powdered sugar, the menu features dozens of international creations inspired by cuisines from around the world. Families, tourists and locals alike come here to enjoy one of the Netherlands' most beloved dishes in an unforgettable historic setting.
