Toscanini

Toscanini has been one of Amsterdam’s leading Italian restaurants since 1985 and has occupied its spacious Lindengracht location since 1990. It remains remarkably free from trends, concentrating instead on seasonal ingredients, regional recipes and the kind of straightforward cooking found throughout Italy.

The menu changes regularly and includes daily specials. Different Italian regions provide the inspiration, with traditional recipes sometimes given a subtle contemporary twist. Expect antipasti, homemade pasta and risotto followed by carefully prepared vegetable, fish and meat dishes.

The large, bright dining room looks directly into the open kitchen, creating an energetic and informal atmosphere. Toscanini feels more refined than a neighbourhood trattoria but remains warm, relaxed and pleasantly unpretentious.

The wine list is almost completely Italian and includes interesting bottles from smaller producers alongside famous regions and grape varieties. Staff can help match wines to the different courses.
